FishCoin for Android — 0.3.1 (build 15)

What's new since build 13

Install on AndroidAll builds

Build 14 was never released. It exists, and it went straight into this one, so everything it changed is listed here.

Superseded. This build only ever went to Play's internal testing track, which is what the rest of these notes were written against. The current build is 0.5.1 (build 19), on open testing — install it from FishCoin's page on Google Play.

You can now delete your account from inside the app

Settings → Delete my account. It asks you to type DELETE, then asks once more, and then it happens — there is no waiting period and no undo.

Read the screen before you use it, because deletion here does not mean everything disappears, and we would rather you knew that up front than found out afterwards:

There is also a form on fishcoin.ai if you would rather not do it in the app.

Why we ask for your location, before we ask for it

The capture screen used to open and immediately fire two permission prompts with no explanation of either. It now explains the location one first.

It matters more than the usual version of this: FishCoin will not accept a catch fixed to worse than 75 metres, so turning location down is not a reduced mode — it is the app not working. Anyone who declined without being told that was set up to fail.

The explanation also now says what actually happens to the coordinates, which the earlier draft of it got wrong: your exact spot is never made public, and catches shown on the standings carry a position blurred to about a mile.

The name under the icon

It said "FishCoinApp". It says "FishCoin". That was the project name leaking onto your home screen.

From build 14, which never shipped on its own

Under the hood

Nothing in this section changes anything you can see.

What would help most

Unchanged, and still first: tape-measure a fish and enter the number — with the tail pinched to a point, as the prompt asks. It is the only real reference we have for whether our measurement is right, and every one of them helps.
